Chain Type and Placement Matter
When layering three necklaces, you want the attention to go to the top necklace and the bottom necklace. The middle necklace should be something clean and simple. If you choose to include only one pendant, go for the bottom. I personally love tripling because I like to give people the chance to focus on each piece individually.
